Disclosures
The IMHU Knowledge Center is for educational and informational purposes only. It is designed to help the public, peers, families, and professionals learn about spiritual emergence/spiritual emergency, mental health, non-ordinary states, and related topics. It is not a substitute for individualized professional care, diagnosis, treatment, crisis support, psychotherapy, psychiatric services, or medical advice.
Not a Replacement for Professional Care
Content in the Knowledge Center—including articles, guides, frameworks, checklists, videos, interviews, downloads, and resource libraries—reflects general information. It cannot account for your unique history, symptoms, risk factors, medications, medical conditions, safety concerns, or personal circumstances. Decisions about care should be made with qualified, licensed professionals when appropriate.
Using this site does not create a clinician–patient relationship (or any other professional therapeutic relationship) between you and IMHU, its staff, volunteers, contributors, or instructors.
No Diagnosis or Treatment
IMHU does not provide diagnosis or treatment through the Knowledge Center. While some material may discuss mental health conditions, trauma, altered states, spiritual experiences, and psychiatric frameworks, this content should not be interpreted as a clinical evaluation or a recommendation for any specific treatment plan.
If You Are in Crisis or at Risk
If you believe you may be a danger to yourself or someone else, or if you are experiencing a medical or psychiatric emergency, do not rely on this website. Seek immediate help:
- Call 911 (U.S.) or your local emergency number.
- Go to the nearest emergency department.
- In the U.S., you can call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline).
- If you are outside the U.S., contact local emergency services or a local crisis hotline.
Mental Health, Medical, and Medication Information
Any discussion of medication, supplements, diagnoses, or medical topics is provided for general education and should not be used to start, stop, or change medications or treatment. Always consult a licensed prescriber or qualified clinician before making changes to medication or care—especially if you are taking psychiatric medication, have a history of psychosis/mania, seizures, or severe mood instability, or are in a vulnerable state.
Spiritual Practices and Non-Ordinary States
Some content may explore spiritual practices or experiences that can be intense (for example, meditation, breathwork, fasting, psychedelics, energy work, prolonged retreat, or other consciousness-altering practices). These can be helpful for some people—and destabilizing for others—particularly for those with trauma history, sleep deprivation, bipolar-spectrum vulnerability, psychosis vulnerability, or high stress.
IMHU encourages a safety-first, integration-oriented approach:
- move gradually,
- prioritize sleep and stability,
- seek qualified support when needed,
- and choose practices appropriate to your current condition.
Third-Party Links and Resources
The Knowledge Center may include links to third-party websites, services, or practitioners. These are offered for convenience and education. IMHU does not control, endorse, or guarantee the accuracy, safety, legality, or quality of third-party content or services. Any engagement with third parties is at your discretion.
Accuracy, Evolving Knowledge, and Individual Differences
IMHU works to keep content current and responsible, but the fields we cover—mental health, spirituality, trauma, and consciousness—are complex and continually evolving. Some topics are debated, and reasonable professionals may disagree. IMHU cannot guarantee that all information is complete, error-free, or applicable to every person or situation.
Your Responsibility
By using the IMHU Knowledge Center, you agree that you are responsible for how you interpret and apply the information. If you are unsure what applies to you, the safest move is to consult a qualified professional.
